Botox For the Treatment of Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating) at The Park MedSpa

How Botox Helps with Hyperhidrosis

Though it may not seem like it, sweating is actually normal and even necessary for humans in order to maintain a healthy body temperature. However, there is such a thing as “excessive sweating” – a condition more formally known as hyperhidrosis – which refers to an abnormal amount of sweating that often affects the underarms, hands and other parts of the body. Many people with hyperhidrosis sweat profusely in these areas even when they’re not hot or physically exerting themselves, and it can often be something that causes great embarrassment or interferes with their quality of life.

Excessive sweating can be a difficult condition to live with, sometimes regular antiperspirants and other drugstore products are not enough to combat hyperhidrosis. But there are treatments available that can help lessen the symptoms.

Botulinum Toxin Injections, more commonly known as Botox, can be an effective treatment option for those with overactive sweat glands. Botox is injected into the underarms, hands, forehead, or feet – anywhere where the individual experiences excessive sweating. The toxin works by blocking signals from the nerves responsible for sweating, essentially stopping the sweat glands from producing too much sweat. In all cases, Botulinum Toxin Injections are a great solution for this medical condition.

What to Expect at Your Session

Prior to your session, you’ll meet with The Park Med Spa’s experienced Board Certified Dermatologist who will review your medical history and your condition to see if this is the right solution for you. The procedure is quite straightforward. A simple test is performed to mark the affected area. Numbing cream can be applied to sensitive areas. The doctor will then clean the area and make a series of injections with a very small needle.
